Integrating map box studio with Tableau
Scope - This article helps us to understand how we can integrate Data Visualization Tool Tableau with Map box and add different types of Map flavors into Geo Viz in Tableau.
What is Tableau - Tableau Software helps to produce interactive data visualization products focused on business intelligence in various business domains.
What is Map-Box - An open source mapping platform for custom designed maps. Mapbox's APIs and SDKs are the building blocks to integrate location into any mobile or web app.
Procedure to Integrate Tableau with Map-Box
Step 1 - Create an account on Map Box using this link.
Step 2 - Go to the API access tokens and you'll see a default token ID generated like below
Step 3 - If you want to generate a new token, click on Create a new token.
Step 4 - Tableau Desktop: Once you open Tableau Desktop and pull the data to your workspace, click on the map option in the menu bar and select Map Services.
This will lead you to the window below,
Here you can add new map services to create stylish map viz.
Step 5 - Click on add, and select classic option as show below,
Step 6 - Name the style, and paste the API access token obtained earlier from Map-box Studio.
Step 7 - Select any Map box present style, and the same style will be applied to the Geo Maps. Here we go...
Similarly, we can incorporate many styles from map services and integrate with Tableau to produce beautiful visualizations.
